Newberg, Oregon Streak in Sky
I had an interesting photographic experience tonight that I cannot fully explain.
I walked down to the freshly cut wheat fields near my home once it was dark to get a nice long exposure shot of the moonless starry skies over the yellow fields.
While I had my tripod set up in the field I noticed a faint light line in the sky. It was just sitting there. Not very bright, but there. Something I had never seen before.
So now I’m trying to focus on this.. whatever it was.
I took several photos over a few minute span. The light streak is in all of them.
Typically you will see light streaks like this with an open shutter situation like I was using when a meteor happens to shoot through the photo while your shutter is open. This was not that. I could stand there and see the “streak”.
Then I wanted to use different settings to try and enhance this streak….but it faded away and was gone.
When I got home and loaded the images on my computer, I looked at the time stamp on each photo.
I took a photo at 9:11:36 and there was no streak. I took the next photo at 9:13:16 and there was a streak. I hadn’t noticed it yet while I was there taking photos. At 9:14:14 I noticed the streak and was paying close attention to it. I took a couple more photos of it and then this one that was at 9:16:48. Within 30 seconds it disappeared.
My very first thought was that maybe it was the space station….but no.. It wouldn’t look like that.
I have no idea what that could have been.
